Sedona Wedding Musician Steve Sandner

Steve Sandner Provides Romantic Sedona Wedding Music

Sedona Musician Steve SandnerSteve Sandner began his musical career in Chicago.  Steve has performed across the country as well as fabulous locations around the world.  Now, based in Sedona, Arizona, Steve has become a celebrity on the local music scene.   Steve is often seen and heard at Sedona’s best resorts playing at nicer Sedona weddings and events.  Sedona brides love the range of music Steve provides in his ever-growing repertoire.

Steve’s musical jazz style has elements of big band, blues and swing, and is easy to listen to for jazz aficionados, or even for those who aren’t particularly jazz fans.  Listening to Steve’s style, one can hear the influences of pianists Nat Cole, Bill Evans, and Oscar Peterson, and his vocals have echoes of Frank Sinatra & Harry Connick, with a blues element from the Charles Brown tradition.

Steve’s most versatile musical combination is the jazz trio, though he often performs solo, with a duo, or a larger group.  He is also in demand accompanying other vocalists, jazz & pop, and has extensive experience as a sideman in jazz, pop, rock and blues ensembles.

Steve started performing around the Chicago area in the mid-60’s when he started playing engagements with his father in Crystal Lake, Illinois. After majoring in trumpet at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Steve studied classical piano with Dada Mehta at Eastern Michigan University and then soon formed his own jazz combo which appeared in Chicago clubs such as the Pump Room and the Gaslight Club, and he also appeared with The Marcus Belgrave Quintet at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge in Detroit. The Steve Sandner Trio was the opening act at the inaugural 1993 Suttons Bay (Michigan) Jazz Festival, and he has since performed there many times. Steve’s other appearances include Chicago’s Intercontinental Hotel, Andy’s Jazz Club, Pete Miller’s, and the Signature Room at the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building. A highlight in his career was a 1989 Asian trip for a four-month engagement with his quartet at the Sommerset Room in the Westin Hotel in Singapore. In 2003 Steve performed for four months at the Hyatt Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, Africa; and he has made several appearances in Paris, France, most recently in May, 2007.

Anyone who has enjoyed Steve’s remarkable talent can clearly understand why The Sedona Wedding Studio is so proud to represent him and to have him as a part of our team.
